Starting from Venice, you will travel by motorboat (about 40 minutes) to reach a protected natural oasis. From there, the kayak tour begins, winding through natural canals, salt marshes (barene) and timeless landscapes where unique vegetation thrives despite the brackish water.
Along the way, you’ll have the chance to spot the lagoon’s rich wildlife: herons, egrets, black-winged stilts, ibises, pink flamingos, swans, cormorants, gulls and buzzards, as well as traditional fishing nets and traps used by the few remaining lagoon fishermen for catching moeche.
Moeche are a true Venetian delicacy: lagoon crabs during their molting phase, when the shell is still soft, highly prized in local cuisine.
Our experienced kayak instructors will guide you safely along easy, relaxing routes. Before getting into the kayak, there will be a short briefing on paddling techniques and how to move respectfully through this fragile ecosystem.
